The Disco Organics Processing Facility is an anaerobic digestion facility that processes a portion of the City’s Green Bin materials. The Disco facility uses a patented technology to remove materials not compatible with the anaerobic digestion process (residue including plastic bags, shoes, knives, forks, glass, stones, etc.). Then it uses anaerobic digestion to produce biogas and organic material that can be made into compost. The Disco Organics Processing Facility is capable of processing up to 75,000 tonnes per year of organic waste from Toronto homes and public buildings.
