Bright Renewables Canada Inc.

somethingAs renewable natural gas (RNG) development continues to accelerate across North America, Bright Renewables Canada Inc. is helping project developers transform biogas into valuable low-carbon energy products. Part of the Netherlands-based HoSt Group, Bright Renewables brings decades of global experience and a growing North American presence to the Canadian biogas sector.

The HoSt Group entered the North American market in 2021 and today operates from its headquarters in Vancouver, Washington. The group includes HoSt Bioenergy Systems, which specializes in anaerobic digestion systems; Bright Renewables, focused on biogas upgrading and carbon capture technologies; and HyGear, a provider of low-carbon hydrogen solutions. Together, these companies offer complementary technologies that support the full renewable gas value chain.

Bright Renewables is a fully integrated provider of RNG and CO2 solutions. The company specializes in biogas upgrading, CCO2 liquefaction, and carbon capture technologies, helping developers convert raw biogas into pipeline-quality RNG. Its systems utilize advanced membrane separation technology for gas upgrading and cryogenic distillation for CO₂ capture and liquefaction. In addition to technology supply, Bright Renewables offers in-house manufacturing, electrical controls, project management, engineering support, and a 24/7 monitoring and control room. The company also maintains a local service network across North America, providing ongoing operational support tailored to the needs of each facility.

something

A key differentiator for Bright Renewables is its strong local presence. While many technology suppliers serve North America from overseas, Bright has invested in building a team of field service technicians, engineers, and project managers located throughout the continent. This allows for faster response times and closer support throughout the project lifecycle. The company combines this local expertise with more than 30 years of global experience and hundreds of successful installations worldwide. Its modular, standardized systems are manufactured in-house, helping to reduce lead times while maintaining competitive pricing.

Beyond supplying technology, Bright Renewables positions itself as a project partner. The team works closely with developers, financiers, and project stakeholders to support business case development, engineering decisions, permitting efforts, construction planning, and commercial partnerships. By leveraging its expertise across the RNG value chain, Bright helps clients move projects from concept to operation.

Among its notable projects is Convertus Group’s Biofuel Facility in York, Ontario. Bright Renewables is providing both the gas upgrading and CO2 liquefaction systems for the project, which will be able to process up to 200,000 tonnes of organic waste annually and produce RNG for the local energy system. The company also has more than 30 installations operating across the United States, primarily serving agricultural, organics, and industrial wastewater treatment applications.

something

Looking ahead, Bright Renewables sees significant growth potential in Canada. The company points to increasing policy support, including Clean Fuel Regulations and environmental credit programs, as important drivers of project development. Growing interest in source-separated organics programs are creating new opportunities across the country, while regions such as Alberta offer particularly attractive conditions for RNG and carbon capture projects.

Bright Renewables joined the Canadian Biogas Association to strengthen its involvement in the Canadian market and contribute to the continued growth of the sector. Membership provides valuable opportunities to connect with developers, partners, and industry stakeholders while staying informed on emerging trends and policy developments. For Bright Renewables, participation in the CBA reflects a long-term commitment to supporting Canada’s growing biogas and RNG industry.
