The Canadian Biogas Association (CBA) and some of our members were back on Parliament Hill in May for two days of engagement with government officials, MPs, Ministers’ offices, and Senators.  The busy schedule included meetings and an evening reception at the Chateau Laurier with an even larger attendance than last year.

The meeting schedule was strategically designed to ensure engagement with key departments, such as Environment and Climate Change Canada, Natural Resources Canada, Finance, and Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada, in addition to targeted meetings with government and opposition MPs.

The conversations built on the CBA’s ongoing government engagement as the group raised awareness about the needs of the biogas & RNG sector.  There were many dedicated discussions about the call out for biogas & RNG in Budget 2024 and the best approach to ensure the most efficient funding program roll out.

These two days on Parliament Hill also presented an opportunity for CBA board members to share their expertise at the federal level by providing real-world examples of challenges and opportunities in the sector.

The evening reception was well attended with over 120 people including CBA members and government decision makers, including MPs, Senators, and Ministers. Meaningful conversations demonstrated just how important this industry is and the vital role it can play in Canada’s future.

“Our second CBA Hill Day demonstrated the significance of the industry and the strength of the CBA’s membership,” says Green. “We will be building on these valuable discussions to push for recognition and opportunities for biogas & RNG at the federal level.”
While the Hill Day is a unique opportunity to bring key members together for a full schedule of meetings, the CBA will continue to pursue meetings with government to champion biogas & RNG.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the event such a success!
