With a presence in Canada for more than 50 years, Avensys Solutions Inc. provides technology and instrumentation solutions for the North American market. Starting out working with landfill gas, the last several decades have seen an evolution into the biogas & RNG space. The company is based in Montréal, with satellite offices in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
Avensys is an industry leader providing instrumentation and integrated solutions for the monitoring of industrial processes and environmental surveillance applications for air and water. The ability to adapt, adjust and customize solutions for its customers is key to Avensys’s work, with turnkey products to fit specific requirements.
“At Avensys, we differentiate ourselves with very knowledgeable people and engineering capabilities, and we can also tap into the years of experience our German partners bring,” says Vice President Pierre Michaud.
Applications for their integrated systems include industrial process, combustion and ambient air monitoring; water and wastewater management; biogas/syngas analysis. Avensys also covers all aspects of its projects, from design and project planning to commissioning, monitoring and reporting.
Avensys has enjoyed being part of the progress made in the industry, working with global partners to bring expertise to the Canadian market. Their engineers help the end user in the field through analysis and training in the proper use of equipment.
As the North American distributor for AWITE, a worldwide leader in biogas analyzers, Avensys offers single or multi sample streams capability and Continuous or Discontinuous measurements. Systems can be customized for hazardous locations as well as outdoor environments, with a technical team providing full support for service and maintenance.
Avensys is currently working on projects across North America, with large projects in progress in Ontario and Quebec. Lately, most projects have been aimed toward renewable natural gas.
Michaud says that the future of biogas & RNG is bright, and Canada’s market could learn from advances that have been made in other countries. Europe in particular shows the possibilities that biogas is capable of.
“The industry is going to continue to grow at an accelerated rate, we’ve seen a lot of projects being designed and built. Other countries have shown that decentralization and local use could be the key to biogas & RNG growth. Bundling and creating more local treatment centers will create a need for a large number of small plants,” says Michaud.
Avensys became a member of the Canadian Biogas Association in 2023. The opportunity to help influence regulation, promote the biogas & RNG industry and bring like-minded industry leaders together were key reasons for joining. Michaud says that being a part of the Canadian biogas community is invaluable for networking and Avensys looks forward to exchanging ideas with other members.
