Énergir (Quebec gas utility) has issued a bidding process for renewable natural gas (RNG). The process will start on October 19, 2023, with a request for information (RFI) and responses are due by 5pm EST on Friday, November 10, 2023. Then, the selected projects from the RFI will be invited to submit their complete bid to the RFP planned in winter 2023-24. The objective of the bidding process is to contract up to 3,8 million GJ/year (3,6 million MMBtu/year or 100 million m3/year) of RNG through long-term contract(s) in order to meet Énergir’s regulatory target. RNG producers can be located in Quebec or anywhere in North America, and have to be able to commit to deliveries by October 2025 or earlier.

BiogasWorld has released a report and guidelines to increase the social acceptability of RNG projects. Social acceptability of RNG projects is one of the barriers to RNG industry development in Canada. The documents available in this kit aim to fill in the existing gap of resources that support RNG project developers in ensuring the social acceptability of their projects and in educating the community.
