Value of Biogas Conference

2026 Value of Biogas East Conference

The 2026 Value of Biogas East Conference brought the industry together once again in Toronto from March 30–April 1, welcoming close to 400 attendees from across Canada and around the world. Over three days, the event created a dynamic forum for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and meaningful connection among stakeholders from industry, government, and academia.

This year’s conference featured a dynamic exhibitor hall with more than 40 organizations, offering attendees opportunities for one-on-one engagement and insight into the evolving biogas and RNG landscape. With over 11 hours dedicated specifically to networking and peer exchange, the program emphasized the importance of relationship-building alongside technical learning.

The conference opened with a fully booked tour of the Generate Upcycle London AD & Biogas Plant in London, Ontario. Attendees gained a first-hand look at an expanded anaerobic digestion facility operating within today’s market realities, exploring how projects are adapting to evolving economic and policy conditions. The day concluded with the Canadian Biogas Association Members Only Happy Hour, one of the standout moments of the conference. The room was filled with over 150 attendees, creating a high-energy, fast-paced atmosphere as members reconnected, exchanged ideas, and set the tone for the days ahead. The strong turnout and lively engagement underscored the continued enthusiasm at the conference and within the biogas community.

Day 2 featured a full program of plenary sessions on market trends, policy frameworks, and industry innovation. Highlights included Minister Sam Oosterhoff, Associate Minister of Energy-Intensive Industries, who shared Ontario’s approach to distributed generation and the role of biogas in supporting energy, economic, and rural development objectives.

Sessions also covered federal policy updates, Québec’s evolving biogas landscape, international perspectives, carbon credit opportunities, Clean Fuel Regulations, technology innovation, and emerging offtake markets. Municipal project case studies offered practical lessons on procurement, engagement, and project delivery. The day ended on a celebratory note with the Canadian Biogas Industry Awards, recognizing leadership and innovation, followed by the networking reception that extended conversations and strengthened connections.

The final day focused on practical tools to improve project performance. Sessions covered digestate management, accurate measurement and reporting, process optimization to reduce operating costs, and regulatory oversight and plant safety. Attendees left with actionable insights and best practices to enhance efficiency, compliance, and overall project success. The conference closed with final remarks and a networking lunch, giving attendees one last opportunity to connect and reflect on key takeaways.
