Value of Biogas Conference

2026 Value of Biogas West Conference

The 2026 Value of Biogas West Conference took place in Vancouver from October 6–8. Our most international conference to date, the event welcomed well over 300 attendees from across Canada and around the world, including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, New Zealand, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The three-day event brought global perspectives to Vancouver’s Pacific gateway for networking, knowledge-sharing and discussion on the future of biogas, renewable natural gas, biomethane and Bio-LNG.

The Conference began with a tour of the Terreva Renewables landfill gas-to-RNG facility and Village Farms greenhouses in Delta, B.C. Participants learned how landfill gas utilization has evolved from generating electricity and greenhouse heat to producing RNG for sale to FortisBC, with future opportunities for liquid CO₂ production. The day continued with a lively Member Happy Hour, where more than 165 CBA members reconnected with colleagues and met fellow members ahead of the conference.

Day two opened with the inaugural United Biogas Alliance Founders Forum, bringing together leaders from North America, Europe and Latin America to explore market development, policy, investment and opportunities for international collaboration. The program continued with a keynote from Jeremy Moorhouse on Canada’s clean energy build-out, followed by sessions on biomethane and Bio-LNG in global shipping, carbon markets, environmental attributes and the evolving marine fuel landscape. Discussions also explored project financing and what is needed to unlock investment, before an energetic Executive Hot Takes session tackled the challenges, opportunities and future direction of the industry. The day wrapped up at the Networking Reception, where discussions continued into the evening.

The final day focused on key policy and technology issues shaping project development in Canada and North America. Sessions examined the future of Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations, practical lessons from navigating the CFR and opportunities to unlock international markets through the Canadian Low-Emission Energy Registry. The program also showcased some of North America’s newest biogas projects before turning to the next generation of upgrading technologies and innovations aimed at improving efficiency, reliability and project economics.

The conference concluded with a post-conference tour to Hydron Energy’s demonstration facility at Bailey Landfill in Chilliwack, B.C. Participants got a firsthand look at emerging technology for upgrading landfill gas to RNG, seeing the technology in action and hearing directly from the team behind its development.

The expanded exhibitor hall was an important part of the conference experience, giving attendees the chance to explore new technologies, connect with organizations from across the sector and continue discussions between sessions. Along with dedicated networking time, the Member Happy Hour, Networking Reception and interactive sessions created plenty of opportunities to meet new people, reconnect with colleagues and exchange ideas. These connections, along with the ideas and insights shared throughout the program, are what make Value of Biogas an important place for the industry to come together.
